AMERICAN PROMETHEUS: TRIUMPH AND TRAGEDY

Hello there, and a warm welcome to the regulars and the newbies on board the Movie Experience!

The first flick of the season is going to be Oppenheimer, about the scientist who led the Manhattan Project team for the development of the weapon meant to halt the Nazi threat: the atomic bomb.

From the rise to achievement and success to  the  decline following the smear campaign alleging that he was a  Soviet spy, here is the story of a man of genius who wavers  between his craving for the scientific fruit of knowledge and his conscience of the ethical  responsibility that goes with it, between believing himself the savior of human kind and fearing the demon of destruction inside – as he himself put it when he quoted “If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once in the sky, that would be the splendor of the mighty One”* on the day Little Boy  was born, and “Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds”*  towards the end  of his life.
