On wednessday the 8th of march we left the cold and wet Netherlands . 18 students and 2 teachers on their way to new experiences, impressions and people. For some students it was their first time to travel by plane, so there were definitly some nerves by the students. After a good flight we landed in Rome, just in time to see the sundown. After collecting our luggage we went to the bus for the 2nd part of the trip. A trip straigt through Italy by night, and finally we arrived in San Benedetto del Tronto! The first day we were more than warmly welcomed by the headmaster and teachers and after raising the flags and singing the national anthem, we went tot he centre of San Benedetto del Tronto. We had lovely weather and enjoyed the beauty of the city and harbour. Beautiful ships moored at the docks, the sea slowly rolling into the harbour and the seagulls welcoming us with their typical shouts. We all were very impressed.
The days after we were taken to the most beautiful places: Grottamare, the caves of Frasassi, Ascoli (and their delicious olives) Offida and many more. During these days we did not only see Italian culture, be we also experienced the warm friendship of your country, and even more of your students and teachers. The students integrated and friendships were formed during these days. Dutch and Italian students exchanged music, opinions and much more. But not only the students exchanged. Also the teachers exchanged their opinions and learned from each other. And then there was Rome! Early on a Monday morning we gathered on a parkingplace and left for Rome. In the bus there was a good atmosphere. Dutch and Italian students were sitting in mixed couples in the bus, and halfway the trip we could enjoy each other music by the intercom of the bus. Finally we were in Rome. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. A professional guide took us on a trip through history of mankind. Colosseum, Forum, churches and so much more. It was overwhelming but also beautiful and impressive. Unfortunally, everything comes to an end. After a delicious meal and a superb evening, organised by the Italian students, we had to say goodbye. On the question “who would like to stay?”, all dutch students raised their hands immediately. On behalf of all the students I would like to thank all the students for their friendship, enthusiasm, wamth and kindness. Also many thanks to all parents for their hospitality. Without them exchanging would not be possible. And most of all I would like to thank all the teachers involved in this exchange, and in particular Paola Talamè, the responsible of international cultural exchanges, who organised everything and made us feel so welcome. We miss you all already, and are looking forward for you to come to the Netherlands to enjoy our culture and country. GALLERIA FOTOGRAFICA |
